Lustration in Georgian. How Saakashvili dismisses Ukrainian officials
The head of state calls Poroshenko’s lustration, the head of the Rada, the head of the SBU, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and other leaders who held positions from February 23, 2014 to March 19, 2019.
“I think the least thing that can be done now is to permanently deprive them of all the opportunities to participate in government,” Zelensky explained his initiative.
As the Ukrainian leader had previously stated, his administration is already developing a bill to expand the number of entities subject to lustration.
The law "On the cleansing of power" was signed by the ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in 2014. According to the document, Ukrainian politicians who were in power during the reign of Viktor Yanukovych are forbidden to hold office.
In early July, a rally was held in Kiev against the repeal of this law.
