The Parliament of Moldova at a meeting on Wednesday approved amendments to the Election Code and other laws. According to the proposed changes, the election threshold for parties will be lowered. This writes Tass.

The electoral threshold will be set at 5% (instead of 6%), for electoral blocs – 7% (instead of 8%). Also ban on campaigning on election day and the previous day.

Corresponding changes to the legislation were proposed by parliamentarians from the factions of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PDS), as well as the “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PDP), supported by the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM).

Recall that in June of this year a political crisis occurred in Moldova after the pro-Russian Socialist Party and the pro-European bloc ACUM formed a coalition. The post of prime minister of the republic was taken by Maya Sandu.

The Constitutional Court recognized these decisions as illegal and appointed Acting President of the country Vice-Chairman of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Pavel Felipe. He signed a decree on the dissolution of parliament and the holding of early elections.

On June 14, Philip's government voluntarily resigned. The next day, the Constitutional Court quashed its decisions to dissolve parliament, hold early elections and invalidate the Sandu government.
