Last prime minister? How Boris Johnson can ruin the UK
Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain approved a bill requiring the head of government Boris Johnson to ask Brussels to postpone Brexit in the absence of an agreement with the European Union, RIA Novosti reported.
After receiving the approval of the monarch, the document became law.
The draft law was adopted by both houses of the British Parliament very quickly – in three days.
According to the document, if London doesn’t have a new agreement with the EU on October 19, the prime minister is obliged to ask for a postponement of the country's exit from the European Union by three months – until January 31, 2020.
An exception will be the situation when parliamentarians vote to withdraw from the association without a deal.
Meanwhile, Johnson himself categorically opposes any deferral of Brexit and has repeatedly stated that he will not ask Brussels for this.
He plans to withdraw the country from the European Union on October 31 in any case. For this, the politician wants to dissolve the parliament and call early elections for October 15.
