The film “The Avengers: The War of Infinity” in the past weekend led the US box office, earning a record $ 250 million, according to the site Box Office Mojo.
The previous record belonged to the “Awakening Force”, the seventh episode of “Star Wars”. On May 1, the producer of the cosmic saga Kathleen Kennedy sent a greeting card to the creators of the “War of Infinity” through social networks, writes Empire.
Thus, Kennedy continued the glorious tradition begun by Steven Spielberg back in 1977, when he admitted through the magazine Variety that the baton of the cash leadership had passed from the “Jaws” to the “Star Wars”, and published on this occasion this postcard:
In 1982, George Lucas responded to Spielberg with reciprocity, as the “Alien” surpassed “Star Wars” and became the biggest hit of the year.
When Lucas released a special issue of Star Wars in 1997, Spielberg again published a postcard through Variety, on which the Alien puts the crown on the R2-D2 droid.
The friendly rivalry between two friends in 1998 was broken by James Cameron, when his “Titanic” surpassed the box office of “Star Wars”. George Lucas again congratulated his colleague with a cheerful postcard.
The tradition returned in 2015, when the “World of the Jurassic” broke the “Avengers” record. Head of Marvel studio Kevin Feigi sent a greeting card, which depicted Chris Pratt riding a dinosaur, and the latter kept the hammer of Thor in his paw.
And when later in the same year a new record set “Awakening Force”, producer Frank Marshall passed the torch relay from the dinosaur to the droid VV-8.
It is not excluded that at the end of next year we will see a postcard with a picture of the weeping Thanos, who passes the glove of Kailo Renu.
