Scientists of the Institute of Biomedical Research of Texas found that thanks to the “forgotten” by scientists one of the types of immunoglobulin, known as Immunoglobulin M (IgM), can be effectively protected against HIV. According to earlier studies of specialists, this method was considered too short for its action, which is necessary to successfully combat the deadly disease.
The possibilities of the medication, based on the “forgotten” form of immunoglobulin, were tested on monkeys from the Southwest National Research Center of Primates. The beginning of the experiments, was based on the treatment of the mucous membrane of laboratory animals with the preparation – Immunoglobulin, approximately half an hour, injections of the immunodeficiency virus SHIV were carried out. Observations were conducted for three months. As a result, scientists accurately determined that four of the experimental subjects of the six participating in the experiment showed full resistance to HIV.
One of the co-authors of the research, Ruth Ruprecht, said that it was possible to prove that IgG is not given due attention, it is really capable of organizing protection against HIV-1 of the mucous membrane. At the same time, experts evaluated its effectiveness at a level exceeding five times, all existing modern analogues.
