Spanish designer Jaime Bereshtayn designed the hotel on Tenefire, collecting in the interior decorative elements of Africa, Indonesia, Mexico and Europe.

The new hotel has 415 rooms, and each room has its own character. While designing the interior, Jaime was inspired by the traditions and art of Africa, Mexico and Indonesia, but he did not discount Europe, where most of the guests come. For example, the headboards of beds are lined with ceramic tiles of various shades of blue – from dark to azure. It was made by hand by local artisans, who worked here a lot. They also painted the walls, weaved the screens of palm leaves and carpets of straw and leather.

“I wanted to create a hotel that seemed to come from the earth, so I preferred biomorphic forms, natural materials and colors,” says the designer. Use in the design of natural elements can be regarded as a tribute to fashion or care for the environment, but in fact Jaime tried to create a special atmosphere: “As if nature itself welcomes guests here, allows them to relax from everyday vanity,” he explains.

So in the environment appeared details corresponding to the four elements: earth, air, water and fire. For the first element corresponds to the local volcanic stone, which is decorated with the walls of the bar Lava. For the second – canopies of purged natural fabrics that give a shadow, but do not interfere with the movement of air. A variety of shades of blue, which is almost everywhere, are associated, of course, with water. But fire, or rather the heat of the sun, personify interior objects and decorative elements of bright, sometimes even acidic shades. According to the idea of the designer, they are like rays in those places, do not get sunlight.

On the one hand, Jaime wanted to reflect in the interior the geographical position of the hotel, adding traditional Tenerife decorative details, and on the other – to broaden the horizons of guests, introducing them to the culture of Africa, Indonesia, Italy and Mexico. For example, the design of the dining room is reminiscent of the setting of traditional Italian trattorias, and the zone with a buffet table is similar to a market counter.

The walls in the restaurant are decorated with geometric patterns, the prototype of which is Senegalese drawings, and the pavilions with a thatched roof for outdoor recreation are built on the same principles as the Indonesian dwellings. Also in the rooms you can find paintings from Africa and fabrics with traditional prints, brought from Mali, and all this is surrounded by the familiar architecture of Tenerife.

Thinking over the color scheme of the hotel, the designer stopped at two palettes: neutral sand and bright, similar to the plumage of exotic birds. In general, ethnic style in the VIP zone is replaced by Scandinavian minimalism. True, wicker furniture in this area still recalls that the action takes place in warmer latitudes.
