While Portuguese cuisine is gaining popularity around the world, excellent Portuguese restaurants continue to open in London. The new institution Casa do Frango, specializing in the cuisine of the southern region of the Algarve, is proof of this.

The restaurant was opened by the creative trio MJMK collective: Marco Mendez, Jake Kasumov and Reza Merchant. Friends traveled a lot around Portugal and decided that if there is something missing in London, then this is definitely a tavern, where they prepare the typical cuisine of the province of Algarve.

In addition to the authentic menu and the main dish of the chicken frango restaurant, Casa do Frango features an unusual design. The interior was occupied by the London bureau of the Milan designer Alessio Nardi A-nrd.

The vaulted high ceiling, large arched windows, bare brickwork and classic hanging lamps remind of the typical Portuguese old houses. The hand-painted bar is a reference to the famous Portuguese trams, and wooden vintage chairs and long tables create the feeling that you were not in a London restaurant, but in a real Portuguese tavern somewhere in Lisbon or Porto.

Panoramic ceiling and indoor plants, organically inscribed in the interior of the restaurant, give the Casa do Frango a southern character, and guests of the restaurant – strength and vivacity, even when in London it pours rain or snow.
